Najwa Wheba is a Libyan journalist, renowned for her role as the first Presidential Spokeswoman in Libya. Appointed in April 2021, she serves as the voice of the three-member Presidential Council, representing Libya in many regional and international occasions.
Wheba holds a Master’s degree in Conflict Management and Humanitarian Work from the Doha Institute, earned in 2020. With over a decade of experience, she began her career as a journalist in 2009, covering significant events such as the Libyan elections in 2012 and 2014, and the migration crises in the Central Mediterranean from 2015 to 2016.
Her diverse career has provided her with solid experience in communication, advocacy, research, and media-related fields.
Wheba has published research on transitional justice, reconciliation, and migration. She is an alumna fellow of the European University Institute in Florence, Italy,
She is also a co-founder of O2 team in Libya, a local NGO dedicated to raising environmental awareness.
